Air

Have you heard this rule of thumb?  An average person can survive three weeks without food, 3 days without water, but only 3 minutes without air.  We have to breathe, y’all, and when we do?  We love clean air.  Pure air.  Oxygenated air.   Why is it that we feel so invigorated when in the mountains, or near the ocean?  Nature brings us back to the purest state.  We are so conditioned to breathe the circulated air inside our buildings, the smoke from tobacco, or from factories-that we sometimes forget the sweet air of the outdoors.  Just looking outside sometimes relaxes us, depending on where our window leads-and if one has allergies, of course.  (Achoo!  Tissues anyone?)gerbera-flower-blossom-bloom-53173

When a room is crowded, the conversation becomes heated, or the perfume/cologne is thick, one might say, “I need some air!”  A person with claustrophobia may feel the same way if on an elevator, or in a small space.  We DO need some air.  We do need to breathe.  More importantly, when we breathe-we need clean air, and air with oxygen.  Without it, the heart that keeps our body going can’t do it’s job.  With oxygen, our heart keeps the beat, and the beat keeps us going.  That pumps me up!

I love how these sentences from *”RICH” put breathing into perspective.

“Each breath we take depends on the breath we took just before.  Being rich has a lot to do with not taking for granted those things that make you a balanced person.

Maybe you feel stressed, and feel like you may never see outdoors again.  Take a breath.  A deep one.  Let it out slowly.  One more time.

There.  Feel better?
